The Dilemma
I’ve thought a lot about how to revise and make
George Washington’s 110 Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior more relevant to us now. Thanks to my own father, I think I have an idea about how I am going to try and do that on this blog over the next year. I am going to follow in my father’s example and write letters to my son, Joseph.
104 Letters
As a 19-year-old,
I accepted a two-year assignment to serve as a missionary for my church. My assignment took me to St. Petersburg Russia. Over the course of those two years, my dad wrote me every single week. With his untimely death, his letters have now become one of my prized possessions. As I go back through those letters on occasion, I hear his voice again sharing his life, his love, and his teaching. I hope these letters may at some point do the same for my son.
