Little spark of celestial fire called conscience

Dear Joseph,

I know that I’ve told you this before, but I don’t think I can say it enough. There is something very special about you. I know you were put on this earth to do an important work.  To help with that work, I am starting to see some of your natural gifts begin to shine.

As we have family time together, I have noticed how deeply you think about things and that your answers are never just off-the-cuff or an effort to answer quickly and move on. I can tell you have thought about the question and that you have pondered about it.  This is a gift you have more so than your brother or sister, and it is just one of the gifts that make you unique.

The ability to really think about things and ponder will be a great blessing to you and to our family. In many ways it already is. Your ability to reflect and listen to that inner voice is the mark of a natural leader and will help you avoid costly mistakes. More importantly because you have already learned to listen to your conscience, you will be prepared to make good decisions and help set the example for your friends and family.

Don’t ever stop pondering!

Love,
Dad

Rule 1: You must work to keep alive in your heart that little spark of celestial fire called conscience.
